Does this place sounds familiar? Have you ever been inside of an artwork? My kids did, last week. Here they are at the Community Children Museum in Dover, NJ. Where kids can get inside the Van Gogh room. It was a great experience for them, They had fun and they learned. Unfortunately today I received an e-mail telling us that the museum will close in June, a bitter sour news for me. We just had so much fun last week. It's a shame that some places need to suffer from all this economic crisis. This museum was open for 12 years and I'm sure many children had good memories from there. Here is the out side of the exhibit. Children can definitely see Van Gogh room and have the idea of been inside and play. Even lay down the bed as my kids did. Here we are again in the museum -one of our one day trips to the city last year, but this time we went to the American Museum of Natural History. There, we learned about new cultures and as you can tell we enjoyed. My son had a lot of fun just pretending to be from one of the african cultures. I firmly believe that kids need to have fun in order to learn. This is the way how I teach my kids art and how I enjoy it too. Experiencing! A couple weeks ago, my husband and I took our kids to the Moma Museum in New York city. My daughter participated in Felix Gonzalez-Torres candy installation, an expanse of shimmering silver-wrapped candy. His partner Ross Laycock, died of AIDS in 1991. Visitors are invited to take a piece of candy from the pile (which is eventually replenished), activating a continuous process of depletion and regeneration. This week was my son 7 Birthday. A few friends came over and we celebrate on Easter Day. It was like in the old times when my mom celebrated my birthday at home; very close friends, homemade food and cake made from scratch. He had a blast! ,specially when his face got in the cake. Yummy!!!! It feels nice to get back to the small family birthday parties -nothing to fancy, just home. The idea behind this blog is to share the tales of an art educator that finds art in motherhood. I'm very luck to have two funny and active children that inspired me every day. I have to admit they have the power to makes me cry or laugh in a blink of an eye, but they certainty fill my life with color. I'm always taking pictures of them my cell phone is more than ready, they are my inspiration. |
